Calisthenics ("Beautiful strength") exercises use one’s own body weight and the qualities of inertia to develop strength, power, coordination and balance, while protecting the joints, chiseling an amazing physique, building tendon integrity, creating greater range of motion/flexibility and if programmed correctly can be one of the best cardio/metabolic workouts available.
Calisthenics has stood the test of time, its origin’s dating back to Spartan soldier training between 600 and 400 BC, with modern manifestations globally including Parkour, Street Workouts, Obstacle Course Racing and Spartan Racing disciplines.
