FST at Gravity

Gravity is a strength, fitness and movement facility with the long term vision to include the provision of integrated health services in support of/supplementary to our fitness scope of practice. Think train hard/intense and support this with active recovery type modalities. With this in mind, I’m thrilled to announce that Gravity will be securing the services of a highly qualified registered Kinesiologist and certified Fascial Stretch Therapist (Level 2) commencing 9 November 2019.

What is Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST)?

Poor posture is a sweeping epidemic afflicting almost every person in the world. And in Canada alone, over 50% of the working population has lower back pain! The sight of a forward head position, rounded shoulders, internally rotated arms, and anterior-tilted pelvis is commonplace in offices, at restaurants, and in the gym. If these patterns are left unchecked, injury rates increase, breath and mood can be impeded, and performance diminished. We were given all the athletic ability and function we need as an infant, however, through our lifestyle today, our biology has changed for the worse.

FST is a pain-free system of assisted stretching which focuses active rehabilitation on the muscles, joints, and connective tissue. With the client on a treatment table, the therapist will help you stabilize your body as you are gently helped into specific positions to help facilitate relaxation and movement into your joints and body.

Who will Benefit?

People of all ages can benefit from FST, including anyone who has been cleared by a physician for stretching and active movement, fitness enthusiasts, and athletes of all levels. And one of the greatest benefits of FST - the results are almost instantaneous. After a single session, we guarantee that you’ll notice a marked improvement in addition to being relaxed and decompressed. For those visiting Gravity, we will take before and after pictures with your consent.

What are the benefits of FST?

  • Reduce or eliminate pain caused by tension and stress (neck, shoulder, back, arm, hips, knees, foot etc.)

  • Reduce risk of injury

  • Increase flexibility, mobility and range of motion

  • Increase strength and power

  • Improve balance and coordination

  • Improve posture and appearance

  • Improve circulation

  • Increase your energy

  • Healthier bones

  • Get the benefits of a deep massage without deep pressure

The best way to know if FST is right for you is to give it a try. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain – set it free with FST!

For a limited time, we have some introductory 30 minute sessions for $45 (inclusive or all taxes fees).

And don't forget that ICBC, WorksafeBC and most employer benefits packages cover treatments such as massage, FST, Kinesiology so don't forget to check if you are able to get full reimbursement for the treatment fees.
